Five Photos, Five Days Challenge: Day Two

Two-Master ZEEMEEUW

Sailing

This two-master was my home for a week in autumn, year after year, for more than a decade. The tides would command our rhythm of days. We had to sail together or we would never leave a port. Steering the ship was my delight, yet I enjoyed every handiwork with the sails, the rigging, the ropes and the knots. The galley was open to the mess deck, a bell and a compass our companions. I loved the storms. Being completely balanced in being out of balance. The wind in my face and hair I was the captain of my life. – Andrea Connolly, 13th June 2015
