Doe, fawn and deer
Catch up with us
Soft round eyes
Ogle us for a treat
The young ones surrounding
In dotty coats ours
One deer in their midst
His antlers inspire awe

As the moment
The first doe descended
Over the ridge
Into the vale we ascended
Her silhouette against
A young midday sea sky
An iconic pose
Solace broken by the appearance of a herd
